Ian Spencer Hardwood

It very hard to say what my emotions are about this chair, it is very musculine and It might be inspired by city land scaped. To tell you the truth I have never seen any other chairs whoich are close to it.

It costs over $6000 and in a way, it is worth it. It is a bespoke chair, I would like to see the work of Ian Spencer and see who his other projects have any liks with this great chair.

In a way we have seen curvaceous furniture before in antiques but in a way it has been taken to a high art for in Morden furniture.

1 Contemporary Bookshelf

Hips

Remember the bookshelves we featured a few posts away, In a way this belongs in those list but I like the away it works as a display cabinet and the assymetrical nature of the placing of the different levels. This is so curvaceous it reminds everyone of hips.

2 Curvaceous Swedish Bathtub

In a way it is suprising that bathroom design has veered towards the clinical , this great bathtub design shows us that the is room for more innovation, I like the pale wood which gives it a very Swedish feel. The fact that it has curves adds to to the warm feeling of a bathtub.

3 Eye Bench Curvaceous Morden Furniture

The Eye Bench is Bannavis Andrew Sribyatta and it is a great example of Asian minimalism, okay it is not exactly cheap at over a thousand dollars but you have to love the smoothness of it all. The concave top complement the eye in the middle.

4 Sushi Daybed

Another showcase for Japanese culture by the PIE design group. It is made out of Water hyacinth and has a really rough and ready feel, the lowness of it gives away that it is Japanese who have made it a habit to sit on the floor at dinner time. It can be used both indoor and outdoor and it is very welcoming.

I am such a big fan of this design, the curves on the sideboard gives a beautiful “S” shape, you can see this in a loft or a very minimalists design.

6 Jigsaw Table and Chair Set

Do you not like the contrast it makes between the two chair sets, it glows and it is works very well in a restaurant environment, I love the way it is complemented by the white drapes.

7 Ball Chair

In a way it reminds me of the 1970s, there were many of these sort of kitsch design. I like the purple but in a way this chair is a little bit over the proverbial top but I like it ultra modernist feel.

8 Green Curvaceus Furniture

I think there is a lot of money going into green furniture, I might even apply for a grant to make this blog a green blog. But I am not a socialist and believe in grants, I like the bottom shape but I am ambivalent about the tree like support structure, it is a little bit corny.

9 Curved Nest Leather chair

This is a great example of a clever use of leather because it is made to look like a leave, seating in this chair gives you a feeling that you are hanging up a jungle tree it very much reminds you of the jungle mansion we featured a little while back.

10 Music Chair

The music chair is a joy of modern design, you can create something useful and still be playful. I like the curvaceous nature of it and the fact that it is really a couch and comes equiped with speakers, it is really for those with big ears.

This is a very seductive chair, it is very feminine just because it has a bottom part ewhich looks like a female skirt, the silver edge at the foot is sweet.

I like the fact that it is made of metal and it is steely and has a a pronouced curve.

Take an egg , sut it in half and you have a table. I am a fan of this table just because I love the concept and the smoothness of everything.

The legs are exquisite, I love the fact that you can see how the two domes and the contrast in colour of the wood, it is really a work of art.

You have to be careful what you put on this table because of the undulating effects but I wonder how practical it is but the diffeterent layers make it look it has springs.

John Grey is one on the experts at using curvaceous furniture and look at the use of dark wood all around the Kitchen unit.

This is a rare of example of musculinity mainly caused by the leather and size but the subtle movement away from straight lines make this a beautiful bed.

The use of steel and the holes makes it a rare piece of art, and the subtle curvaceous nature makes it welcoming to sit in. it is a triumph of contradictions a holy steel chair yet curved and welcoming. This is by a designer from Israel Ron Arand and it fethes close to half a million dollars.

The first restaurant with modern interior is designed by Jamie Hayon, have black and white and grey ever been used more elagantly, I love the chairs. Look at the bathroom and the flowers on the ceiling, they are very rich.

2 ) Cuckoo Club Modern Interior Design Idea

This is a club design by the company blacksheep, this is straight glamour out of a hip hop bling video, some people might say it is over the top but there is a makert for over the top glitz.

3) Park Avenue Season Restaurant.

There is a hotel in Manhattan which changes its menu and its decorations with the seasons, summer, winter, autumn and spring are represented below. I love this modern interior design concept but it must cost a lot to have all these makeovers.

The choice of colours is spectacular, iIlove the contrast between the gey chairs and the pop art pictures around the room. Although it is called a purple cafe, the colour is not too dominant, It is tastefully executed.

5 ) Ramses Restaurant.

Phillip starck has just designed this restaurant in Spain, it is a mixture of opulance with graffiti.  I am not a big fan of graffiti because it creates a dissonance.  Maybe if this room had no grafitti it would be just another opulent room.  but I would have like to have seen this concept without the grunge, but it is starting to grow on me.

6) Gold Restaurant Modern Interior Design Idea

Dolce and Gabanna have designed this Restaurant in Milan, well I this it is a little bit too in your face, it smells nouvea riche and really I expect more from them next time around. But may that is the beauty of Italy, you can be vulgar and get away with it.

Look at how the chairs are not the same colour, look at the mirrors on the ceiling, the contrast between conservative colours and yellow spot on the floor. I love how this design has turned out. Mirrors on the ceiling, that is grand.

1 Maserati Lamps

People might start believing that motor companies are secretly sponsoring this blog judging by the concept  motorcycle post i did. (link)

Maserati lamps are too sweet I like the atmosphere they create, well branding a lampshade is also a good idea.

2) Nymph Lamp

This Caterpillar look works superbly.I am a fan this marriage between sculpture and light.

3)Gento Lamp

I love this because it is so fractal and it is inspired by the sun, I love it fractal nature well this is the best example of a sun lamp out there.

4)Ostrich Lamp

This was designed by Halde Martin, it is such a simple idea, applying feathers to light and it looks angelic.

5) Oyule Lamps

This is a very great idea, I love the way Sergio Silva contrasts new technology with old.  I remember the old oil lamps and he pays such a tribute to them and I wonder where he got the double light idea. As a contemporary interior design idea it works very well.

6) Milk Bottle

I like the way he painted the glass white to drive home that it is a milk bottle, he could have easily have left it transparent, Why did i not think of that ?

7)  Dress lamp

Just showing appreciation for the female figure, there is a blog with all the dresses and the light design they inspired.

Lazy Reading Lamp

It does a job I am not sure I will have this rubber chair in my house but does a job, and why can a lamp not be made of flexible material? This is a great addition to the reading lamp portfolio.

This is inserted into the wall and has the effect of an illusion that the face is coming out of the wall.

This would be a very good present for someone lacking courage.

11) Lamp Momento

This is straight out of Japan by Hiroshi Yoneya and Yumi Masuko , I love the contrast between the opaque top and the transparent numbers when you go down.

source This paper based lamp makes us question our beliefs about paper and it limitations, this fold up lamp is great.

13) Rubik Light

I am loving this Rubik’s cube lamp, I see a lot of material being inspired by Rubick’s cube these days.

14) Primitive Lamp

This such a radical concept I love the way it fits in with the furniture.  If you are going to buy this sort of lamp you will need the other furnishings to complement it.

15) The Blow Table Lamp

This is a design by Studio Italia , what is amazing is that it looks so good, it has a machismo about it.

16) Reading Lamp

This lamp as a bookshelf, It is made from the Netherlands.

17) Book Lights

This is a very clever idea to have lights hidden in a hard cover book.

18) Levitating lamp

A copy called Creatlev has apparently discover how to make this lamp levitate and they are not telling the world how this works, this should be applied to other objects.

19) Penta Light

This is one of the most sweeping design concepts, the grand shape of the design creates a great filter for the lights, it has an aerodynamic in it feel.

20) Kwan Ho Lee

Kwang Ho lee specialises in making these lamps out of wire, he weaves them and they are spaghetti like.

21) DesignItalia Lamps

This is a beautiful pair of lamps as you can expect from the Italians there is a lot of sheen around, I am a fan of italian interior design or even the whole Italian design scene.

22) Clothes Hanger Light

We have seen people without wardrobes hanging clothes on walls before, in a way this redeems the practise.  Believe it or not it costs $249 in shops.

23) Solar Lamp

This lamp is very well designed for a green product and it can be moved outdoors to catch the sun rays.

24)Mushroom Lamp

Mushroom, I do not know why he choose to make the other side black, I love the concept of it lying on the side, it makes a beautiful desk lamp.

25) Brain Lamp

This brings to mind the concept of being enlightened, this a great design by Alexandra Lervik

In a way it is nightmarish, that is why it is called flee from the light.

27) Twisted Lamp

I could have thought of that , sure we have seen cubes before, but where he has palced the is clever.

28) Asteroid Lamp

This is a very spectacular yet simple shape, It has twenty four facets but different designs, It was created by Koray Ozgen

29) Zipper Lamp

Sometimes you wonder when concepts truly crystalised in the mind of designers.  It is play on curtains and how we can choose to have lights and control the amount we allow in and out.

30) Torn Lamp

This is a design by Bill May,these light are soothing,   I love where they a placed in a room it is very original to put them round  and in the middle.I wonder why some of the lamps are not mass produced, but you would not want to see this in every home.

31) Ribbon Lamp

Remember the Ribbon chair, the contrast it that this lamp is very busy rather than minimal.

This a notorius chair design by Konstantin Grcic  The first image is of the being used in real life, but given the cost of these chairs that is a major investment by  the cafe.  Do you not love the different colours?  This is an excellent example of contemporary design chair furniture.

Frank Gehry was given an opportunity to experiment with chairs and he can up with this design, the more you look at it the more you appreciate the art which went into making such a design, the ribbon like effect works wonders.

A creation of Marcel Wanders the Knotted Chair , you can almost believe that the designer is female.  You almost do not believe that it can stand on its own just because the supporting structure is so well hidden.  The legs have a tent rope look.

A triumph of engineering, it is very useful just because it can have so many uses, I can imagine listening to music reclining on it but it is also adaptable to when I want to sit up.

6 Phillipe Starck Ghost Chair

Phillipe Starck is by far the most recognised name in design, you can remember his many foray into different subfields.  you have to love the simplicity of these designs, why sould chair not be transparent?

7 Lofty Chaise Chair

This futurist chair design is beautiful, It was designed for MDF Italia by Piergiorgo Cazzaniga, I love how he has created a cushion for the head but has dispensed with it on the silver minimalist chairs.

8 L Shaped Tree Chair

This chair makes a big statement just because you do not encounter square treees, it look umcomfortable to sit on, this chair messes with the limits of nature versus design.

9 Mathias Koehler Rocking Chair

Have you ever seen any chair which is like this?  The tripod shape is very original  and the inserton of a reading light is also a good idea this rocking chairs are pleasurable.

Look at how quickly a traditional colour can become modern given the introduction of adventorous colours, the lines between consevative and funky design furniture and conservatism are not that well defined.  Colour

Herman Miller has created a much talked about chair I like its rib like structure, but really it is a boys chair, you can see someone in Sillicon Valley owning this chair, I would like to see a furniture design program which accompanies the embody chair.  It seems that they have a very successful furniture design program because their previous design also received acclaim.

There has been a monopoly of public acceptace of Scandanavian furniture design, maybe it is because we like the clean minimalist look these days, this Mats Theselius designed chair combines luxury with Norske colours, it is look stunning.  We might just see this at Ikea furniture stores soon, I hope not because it might spoil

These innovative chairs are designed by Studio Dror, they can be easily put away on walls, I love that they can work as art fixtures as well as for practical use.

14 Birdy Chair

This a very welcoming design and has all these warm colours, it is amazing how often we have seen the nest or birds like attachment to chairs. It is just because as babies we spent a lot of time prams, there is a bit of pop psychology for you, we will have to have another look at comtemporary  design chair and other furniture features.
